The Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) in Jena is a federal and state government-funded research institute and member of the Leibniz Association (Leibniz-Gemeinschaft). FLI’ s internationally visible and highly competitive research is focused on understanding the mechanisms of aging and associated age-related diseases. Scientists from over 40 countries are currently investigating the molecular mechanisms of aging and the occurrence of age-related diseases. Our aim is to create the basis for new approaches in medicine to improve the health of the elderly (www.leibniz-fli.de).

The research group "AI in Microbiome and Aging Research” led by Dr. H. Melike Dönertas at FLI is currently looking for a highly motivated and talented Student assistant (m/f/x) to join their team:

Student assistant (m/f/x)

Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft (m/w/d)

Tasks:

  • Apply cutting-edge Machine Learning to aging and microbiome data
  • Develop open-source tools under the guidance of a Postdoc
  • Participate in scientific discussions

Working time / duration:

  • approx. 39-40 hours / per month - can flexibly be divided

We are looking for:

    • Motivated students (m/f/x) in their BSc or MSc studies with a mathematical background in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or similar, who would like to get to know the projects of the research group
    • Ability to work independently
    • A good knowledge of English
    • Proficiency in Python
