The Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) in Jena is a federal and state government-funded research institute and member of the Leibniz Association (Leibniz-Gemeinschaft). FLI’ s internationally visible and highly competitive research is focused on understanding the mechanisms of aging and associated age-related diseases. Scientists from over 40 countries are currently investigating the molecular mechanisms of aging and the occurrence of age-related diseases. Our aim is to create the basis for new approaches in medicine as a way to improve the health of the elderly (

The Core Facility Imaging at FLI offers advanced state-of-the-art light microscopy equipment to investigate biological structures from nanometer to centimeter scales (doi: 10.3390/cells9061377). Facility staff provides introduction and service into microscopy techniques, including access to widefield, confocal, light-sheet and super-resolution microscopes. Special research expertise has been developed and is provided in Fluorescence Fluctuation Microscopy (FFM) applications to study molecule dynamics in living specimen (doi: 10.3389/fonc. 2018.00125). The facility staff provides introduction into microscopy techniques and service for researchers.
To support our team and to further develop our imaging platforms we are looking for:
